The jewelry business in the 20th century was developed not only in America, but, above all, in Europe. In West Germany in the 50s and 60s of the last century, exquisite jewelry appeared, mainly in the style of the Victorian era, with the Western (West) Germany marking.
German costume jewelry designed and made in the Victorian and Edwardian styles, Art Nouveau (poetic interpretation of nature 1890-1915) and Art Deco (geometric figures of symmetrical form 1919-1930). Until now, the name and exact location of the manufacturer of jewelry are not known, the names of designers, the composition of the alloys used, and much more are not known.
Sets of pendants and clips, medallions and clips, necklaces and clips, brooches and clips, as well as bracelets. From cameos depicting ladies or flowers, sparkling cabochons, surrounded by pearls and rhinestones on filigree in gold and silver tones, with artistic enamel, all these decorations were also made in West Germany.
Cameos are considered to be a particularly successful line of W.Germany. Cameo brooches, cameo pendants, cameo necklaces and cameo clips are beautifully framed in fine golden lace with a sophisticated design of filigree frames.
The most interesting design of the company’s jewelry can be seen in the period of the 50s – 60s of the last century.
These are semi-parures, less often – individual clips, brooches or necklaces (pendants on a chain), complete sets are even rarer, this jewelry company did not produce rings at all!
The design of these jewelry is made up of large central cabochons made of rhinestones or glass framed by small beads and rhinestones on a rather voluminous “filigree” bed made of aged yellow gold-colored metal. The reverse side of Western (West) Germany jewelry is also characteristic only for this brand of jewelry, whether it is marked or not: clips are most often marked in the set, and not a brooch or necklace.
