Vintage jewelry Eve Kaplin 70s
Eve Kaplin created her jewelry in Providence, Rhode Island. She later moved to New York where she opened her small but growing business.
Eve Kaplin’s jewelry making technique was characterized by completely unique, whimsical and unusual ways of creating jewelry. The products were made of enameled metal of different colors without soldering, using rivets and adapter rings.
Her signature collections were called “Mechanical” and “Mobile”.
These were playful, moving pieces of an architectural type with mood and a sense of humour. The colors were bright, clean (this was the 80s) and the shapes bold. Many have compared the look of the products to the Memphis-Milan aesthetics popular in the 80s.
Eve Kaplin’s signature piece is a wall clock created in 1983. Eva passed away early, she was only 28 years old.
Some Eve Kaplin pieces are in the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York, the design arm of the Smithsonian Institution. Jewelry is highly collectible and very expensive.
