The history of Ann Taylor began in 1954, when Robert Liebeskind opened his first store. Robert inherited the unique style that the company was already famous for from his father, who was also a well-known tailor. To this day, Ann Taylor is considered a brand that is ideal for sophisticated women who know how to dress well.
Until 1983, the company was known primarily on the east coast of the country. The company’s management, however, did not stop there. In the mid-80s, Ann Taylor was already operating at the national level – 47 company stores were operating throughout the country.
At the end of 2008, 935 stores operated under the Ann Taylor logo in the United States, Colombia and Puerto Rico; total sales amounted to about 2.2 billion US dollars.
Today, the Ann Taylor label produces wonderful, luxurious, refined clothing that combines the best recipes of classic tailoring schools and the latest trends in modern fashion. The brand’s products are distributed through two main branches and four main channels – Ann Taylor Stores, LOFT, Ann Taylor Factory and LOFT Outlet. In August 2005, the Ann Taylor Celebrations collection was launched; as the name suggests, the dresses, shoes, handbags and capes included in this collection are intended for special, exceptional occasions.
Each element of the collection is made with incredible attention to detail and carefully dyed. You can appear in one of these dresses at a wedding, a lavish cocktail party, a scientific symposium or a Nobel Prize ceremony. The designers continue to develop the line to this day.
The Ann Taylor Collections project was launched in 2007 and includes luxury clothing, accessories and shoes made from the finest Italian materials. The high quality of the products, of course, could not but affect the price of the clothes. However, this price cannot be called completely inaccessible.
In the summer of 2007, the LOFT Maternity line was launched – a series of products for pregnant women and young mothers. The products included in the line were distributed under the motto “Because you have a lot to expect”. Initially, the collection included only medium sizes; later, however, the range of sizes was significantly expanded.
At the moment, the products of the LOFT Maternity line are distributed exclusively online. The new motto of the line is “Clothes so stylish and comfortable that you will want to wear them for more than 9 months.” Among the mentioned 3-odd hundred stores of the Ann Taylor label, two stand out the most – the store on Madison Avenue in New York City and North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The flagship store of the LOFT project is also quite famous – in Times Square in New York.
