Sultanna Frantsuzova is famous for her unique retro style. Her dresses and blouses are known from China to Italy.
Sultana Frantsuzova was born in 1975 into an Armenian-Kalmyk family. The girl’s parents were completely different professions. Mom was a creative person and worked as a choir conductor, but when the children were born, the woman left her career. My father had a talent for sewing and worked as a shoemaker.
Therefore, little Sultanna always wore original shoes. According to the girl, she became a famous designer thanks to her father’s talent. And she borrowed a unique surname from her mother.
STUDYING TIME
Sultanna began her career with the acquisition of knowledge in the fashion laboratory of Vyacheslav Zaitsev. The girl’s head was filled with different ideas and plans, so she often received grants – grants for the implementation of her ideas. Thanks to this, she was able to take part in the competition, which was organized by Nadezhda Lamanova. Young designers took part in it and Sultanna became a laureate.
The next place of study for Frantsuzova was the academy in Milan. She showed her talent, so her masterpieces were presented at the Fashion Awar ceremony, which took place in Switzerland. Later, the young Frantsuzova was offered to work for the Russian clothing brand LO. The young and talented Sultanna created her own trademark in 2004. Her small shops were chic and unusual in style. They featured vintage furniture and old posters. She offered her customers velvet dresses and skirts with lace elements. There were a large number of brooches and handbags. A year later, in 2005, according to thousands of girls, Glamor magazine chose Frantsuzova as the designer of the year. Such a success for a novice designer was a rarity, but the girl was able to show her talent and worked with all her heart.
In 2007 Frantsuzova moved her design studio to Hong Kong. There, a woman starts working on a new project and collaborates with young Asian designers. Her work has been featured at Hong Kong Fashion Week. Also, the designer opened her boutiques in Moscow, where there were accessories, handbags and clothes. There were about 20 Frantsuzova stores in the capital and in St. Petersburg. The boutique also appeared in Italy and in total there were more than 40 retail stores. Despite such popularity and creativity in creating clothes and shoes, prices were affordable and amazed all fashionistas.
Sultanna did not pass by the “Zh” shoe headliner. She decided to create unique, comfortable and beautiful shoes that were made in China. Thanks to this, many were able to afford to buy such shoes.
Over time, the company “Zh”, with which Sultanna collaborated, ceased to satisfy the designer with regard to the pricing policy. Therefore, the woman announced that she was leaving Sultanna Frantsuzova. As a result, the director of the company decided not to take risks and created the SoFrench brand, but again invited Sultanna to develop.
The designer has given permission to rebrand her stores to SoFrench. She wanted to bring back her style of clothing and give more attention to the quality of the material. Due to the fact that Sultanna does not copy fashion trends even in the smallest details, her dresses always remain in trend. In the new collection, Frantsuzova reduced the number of bows and lanterns and gave the dresses a slightly new style.
The designer also slightly modified her stores. She added antique-framed mirrors, antique photos and books. This atmosphere helped to enjoy the process of choosing an outfit.
Since 2011, Sultanna has revived the Sultanna Frantsuzova brand, and every year new stores are opened in different cities of Russia.
In 2012, Frantsuzova presented a new fall / winter collection that uses velvet and crepe georgette fabrics. Dresses made of these fabrics have folds and fur collars. And the face of the spring / summer collection was Nadia Mikhalkova herself – the beautiful and talented daughter of Nikita Mikhalkov.
Frantsuzova is also not against Internet technologies and was considering options for creating online stores for her brand. Such opportunities would help to get away from stuffy shopping centers and have an individual approach. Therefore, since 2011, she has an online store in which the average check is 6,000 rubles.
