Sonia Rykiel is a new wave designer, creator of short sweaters and prints, and simply a real Parisian with Russian roots.
Rikiel could not find a single decent thing for herself. She had to order the fabric and style of the future sweater from the tailor herself. The product was returned to the atelier 7 times, until it became radically different from the oversized clothing, which in those days was sold for women “in position”.
The future founder of the brand created her first gray sweater model. Of course, this is a rather simple product, but despite this, it differed from its counterparts in an elegant and unique appearance. It is due to this that such a thing quickly dispersed among local fashionistas. Sonya quickly acquired her own admirers. An important role in the creation of the brand was played by the first husband of the designer, who at the beginning of 1960 was the owner of a knitwear shop. Jewelry by Sonia Rykiel
Not all Sonia Rykiel jewelry is labeled (similar to Moschino). Some of the brooches are marked with the branded initials SR on the front side of the product, and chains with large pendants can be recognized by the branded carabiner clasp. Earlier Sonia Rykiel brooches are marked on the back.
Since 1978, Sonia Rykiel has been launching a line of perfumes and its own cosmetic products. In addition to clothing, shoes, bags, accessories and even sex toys began to be produced.
After the first successes in the fashion world, Sonya divorced her husband and opened her own production. The first Sonia Rykiel boutique opened in the memorable 1968 in, perhaps, the most free and bohemian quarter of Paris – Saint-Germain-des-Pres, having absorbed the spirit of change and non-conformism. For many years, Sonya cared little about creating something that would go down in history, the main goal of the designer was to dress every woman beautifully.
