Silvia Furmanovich knows how to work with materials that are not standard for jewelry art, such as wood, mined in her native Brazil, or bamboo, from which, according to the ancient Japanese method, earrings and bracelets were woven and then decorated with precious stones and gold. But a hundred-year-old papyrus is perhaps her most unusual find. The material, bought from a merchant in Egypt, is a hundred-year-old forgery of thousand-year-old papyri. These were made for tourists who flocked to the country in the early 1900s.

Furmanovich has won the prestigious Couture Design Award three times: in 2015, 2016 and 2019 in the category “Innovation”. Her Indian collection won the 2018 Town & Country Jewelry Award for ‘Collection of the Year’ and she was a nominee for the Jewelry Design Award at the 2019 GEM Awards of America.
