This brand represents the Roman Company, founded in 1973 by Melvin Roman in Chicago. The company produced a wide range of jewelry, distinguished by skillful imitation of expensive jewelry. The beauty of appearance of many products of this brand is the result of skillful design and the use of high-quality Austrian crystals, cabochons, mother-of-pearl, enamels and jewelry alloys with a predominance of golden tones.
Soon, the jewelry became very popular among jewelry lovers. Roman branded necklaces, earrings, bracelets and brooches, pendants and pins were sold in Chicago, with sales offices in New York and Texas. The circumstances that forced Melvin to sell his business to partners in 1984 are not known.
Roman was then acquired in 1994 by TSI Holding Company, which now owns both Roman and Sunstone, the country’s largest designer, importer and distributor of sterling silver jewelry. The companies officially operate under the corporate name TSI Accessory Group.
TSI Holding is a diversified holding company founded in 1953 located in the St. Louis area. According to jewelry lovers and collectors of vintage costume jewelry, the excellent design and workmanship, and, of course, the quality of the materials of many jewelry made several decades ago, today, as before, attract attention.
The company itself has been in business for a little over 10 years, so it goes without saying that vintage pieces bearing the Roman trademark are very rare.
