Roger Schemama was a French jeweler. Schemama was born in Tunis to a wealthy Florentine family. In 1922, he moved to Paris where he began making parures. Schemama worked with the most famous French couture houses and revived the use of crystal in fashion in the 1950s.
Roger Schemama created jewelry for Jacques Fath, Balmain, Schiaparelli, Lanvin, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Kristian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Some of his jewelry for Yves Saint Laurent can be found in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Buckingham Palace Art Gallery, in London, the Fashion Museum in Paris.
