Mazer Brothers was founded by two brothers Louis and Joseph Mather, immigrants from Russia.
In the early 30s, Marcel Boucher began working in the company of the Mather brothers (later Boucher founded his own company for the production of jewelry, which is still wildly popular with vintage collectors), a student of Cartier himself, who brought the technique and skills of fine work from jewelry art.
In the 1930s and 1940s, many jewelry companies went bankrupt.
In 1946, Joseph founded his own company – Jomaz, whose jewelry is gaining recognition and reputation for high quality jewelry. Rhodium-plated gold has been used for manufacturing, and since the 60s, gold-plated alloys with textured finishes, bright enamels and Swarovski crystals have been used.
In the early 50s and later in the 70s, Andre Fleuridas was Joseph J Mazer’s chief jewelry designer. And in the late 50s – early 60s, a certain Adolfo worked for the company. It is believed that the Adolfo for Mazer mark belonged to Adolf Katz, the famous Coro designer.
After Joseph’s departure, Mazer Brothers was managed by Louis alone until 1951, and in 1977 Mazer Brothers Company permanently stopped its production.
Jomaz was run by his wife after Joseph’s death and then by his son. In 1981, Jomaz ceased to exist.
At the moment, the Jomaz brand remains one of the most valuable brands loved by vintage collectors around the world. Prices for Jomaz are high, but justified – amazing workmanship, special design, first-class materials.
