Margaret De Patta was one of the pioneers of modern jewelry art. Influenced by the spirit of Bauhaus and constructivism, she rethought the concept of stones in jewelry. The metal frame only emphasized the high cost and quality of the cut of the precious stone, which was the main part of the jewelry. Margaret began to use non-standard methods of cutting stones, thereby achieving unusual optical effects: refraction of light, enlargement or distortion of the image. At the same time, the metal parts of the jewelry became an integral part of the composition, interacting with the stone.
