Lady Remington is the new name of the Act II jewelry company, given to it in 1986 by its new owner, Victor Kiam. The name is not accidental, a few years before, in 1979, Victor bought the Remington electric razor manufacturing company and got into management textbooks as an example of a successful leader, having brought a languishing company out of crisis and made it super successful.
Just look at the statement to the press that the purchase was made when his wife gave Victor a Remington razor and he realized that it was the best razor in the world! Later, Victor stated this in Remington commercials. I don’t know about razors, but I still consider their hair dryers unsurpassed, don’t consider this an advertisement. Victor was also quite successful in the jewelry business. Jewelry under the Lady Remington brand had an interesting design, very high quality workmanship, and the print runs were small.
More mass production began after 2004, when the company was renamed to the now much better known Lia Sophia. This is what Tori Kiam, Victor’s son, named it after his two daughters, Lia and Sophia. Lia Sophia was distributed through a network of representatives, through direct sales, and stopped producing jewelry in 2014. The brand has a lot of fans, but, alas, these jewelry pieces are far from the quality and design level of Lady Remington.
