Kwiat is a well-known American diamond brand that celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. The Kwiat house has a very delicate, “lacey” diamond handwriting.
In connection with the anniversary, Kwiat recalled those jewelry items that reflected each decade of the last century. This is how the memorial Decades Collection turned out. Here, for example, is the brand’s tiara, dating back to 1907 – a small and light diamond hoop topped with three spherical flowers. An elegant tribute to Art Nouveau style.
The tumultuous 1920s were marked at Kwiat by an interest in contrasting palettes. The best example of this interest were earrings made of platinum, white diamonds, black onyx and drop-shaped cabochon emeralds. The influence of Art Deco is felt in these objects, but the aggressiveness and even soullessness characteristic of this movement are almost completely annulled. These historical earrings are elegant and understated.
The loud neoclassicism of the 1930s naturally led Kwiat jewelers to massive things. And the main decoration of Kwiat from the golden decade of Hollywood, the “great cocktail era”, is considered to be a necklace – a thick platinum cord with spherical inserts.
During the crisis for jewelry in the 1940s, Kwiat created a brooch – a very pompous round gold floral wreath with diamonds and pink sapphires. The saving floral theme continued into the 1950s – a fragile bracelet made of platinum, white diamonds and blue sapphires is responsible for this decade in the Decades Collection. The 1960s introduce energetic, asymmetrical earrings in a meditative oriental style – made of platinum and white diamonds. The huge floral cocktail ring is responsible for the 1970s. This is a layered yellow gold flower with white diamonds and orange pave sapphires, with a large orange sapphire in the center.
The 1980s were celebrated at Kwiat with earrings composed of gold and diamond links. The economical 1990s, as we know, were reflected in the mass craze for black diamonds, and the lack of luxury was compensated by sublime forms. Earrings made of platinum, black and white diamonds and aquamarines are also sublime. And finally, the opening bars of the new century were translated into a new tiara with a floral theme in platinum and diamonds.
Contemporary Kwiat items almost completely inherit the historical jewelry collected in the anniversary collection. For example, the modern line Blanc Noir, which features very long earrings, as well as pendants on chains, appeals to the earrings of the 1920s. The graphic black and white palette, which is very fashionable today, is achieved in the simplest classical way – platinum, white diamonds, black onyx.
