The company Knoll & Pregizer was founded by Theodor Eberhard Friedrich Knoll and Frederich Pregizer in 1887.
Each KNOLL & PREGIZER (KP) piece is a handmade piece of jewelry made of sterling silver, using the finest inserts and imitations of diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Sometimes KP used semi-precious stones such as amethyst and onyx. The items are created as fine jewelry. There is confidence that they were created by jewelers who also worked with real precious materials, so exquisite is the imitation. Once you fall in love with a Knoll & Pregizer piece, you will never forget it. Be it the famous monkeys or a replica of the Cartier scarab.
Knoll & Pregizer pieces are very difficult to collect compared to other brands. They are often incredibly beautiful, very close to jewelry, hard to part with, not many were originally produced, and difficult to identify. The manufacturer’s stamp is often so small that it is difficult to notice, let alone make out. Getting a KP piece in your collection is a great joy, even if you know that it will take years to restore or you will not be able to do so at all. Often, sellers misinterpret the markings or do not mention them.
Robin Deutsch spent many years searching for the truth and found it. And the start was a find at an auction – a company catalog from 1953. After that, the search was easier.
Other research showed records in German archives that Knoll & Pregizer was registered after World War II, having been in business from 1948-1973. The date 1887 is also known, when Theodor Fahrner reserved the company name, and the patent office confirms this. So, Knoll & Pregizer were in business from 1887 to 1975.
