The founders of the company Karu Arke were two entrepreneurs – Kaufman and Ruderman (Kaufman & Ruderman) and the brand name consists of the first two syllables of their names – Karu (Karu).
Karu was founded in 1940 in New York. Rhinestones and rock crystal were most often used to create jewelry, so the company’s jewelry is very reminiscent of Weiss and Kramer products. A distinctive feature was the combination of these materials with filigree.
The company’s jewelry has always been marked: “KARU” – from the moment the company was founded and until 1954, “KARU ARKE” – from 1954 to 1970. It was in 1970 that the company ceased to exist.
