The ‘Ippolita’ jewelry brand began its existence with a collection of 18 carat gold jewelry available in ‘Bergdorf Goodman’ stores since 1999. Today, the famous collections are added to the line – ‘Ippolita 925º’ in 925 sterling silver and ‘Ippolita Rosé’ in ‘pink’ silver, made of sterling silver with 18k gold and then plated with 18k rose gold.
The founder of the Ippolita brand, Ippolita Rostagno, was born on December 10, 1963. Her parents, American Helen and Florentine Aldo, were bright intellectuals who understood a lot about beauty and aesthetics. After her family lived in New York for a while, Rostagno moved in 1971 to a millennium-old farm in the Tuscan hills outside of Florence. In 1972, the majestic beauty of Henry Moore’s sculptures at the exhibition in Fort Belvedere had a serious impact on Hippolyta’s worldview. The stunning work of the master and the picturesque area gave rise to the idea in Rostagno that her life must certainly be devoted to art.
In 1982, Ippolita went to study at the Academy of Arts. After emigrating to the US, her life path took her to Los Angeles, where Rostagno founded the alternative dance company ‘Rime’, which explored the relationship between poetry and dance. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Occidental College, Hippolyta moved to New York in 1986. Two years later, she welcomed the birth of her daughter, Maya.
Finally, in 1993, her love of beauty and desire to create beauty with her own hands were the reason why Ippolita began to engage in jewelry design. In 1994, she founded a private design house and produced collections of inexpensive jewelry for large retail companies. For the next six years, Ippolita did not stop improving and was looking for her own unique style in order to launch her exclusive line of gold jewelry.
In 1999-2000 the first collection in 18K gold was born under the brand name ‘Ippolita’. By 2005, an unusual line ‘IPPOLITA HOME’ was ready, which included bronze, ceramic and glass sculptures. In 2008, the new silver collection ‘IPPOLITA 925º’ was met with great success. In 2010, the Ippolita brand celebrated its 10th anniversary, and a year later, Ippolita presented her solo exhibition ‘Reliquary’ at New York’s ‘Highline Stages’, purpose-built to showcase the work of talented filmmakers, photographers, artists and designers.
Actress Bella Thorne attended the ‘Love Through Time’ premiere in New York City wearing an ‘Ippolita’ diamond and hematite ring. Actress Halle Berry was seen wearing an ‘Ippolita’ ring-shaped bracelet with various swirls of 18k gold. Celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Jessica Biel, Nikki Reed, Queen Latifah, Carrie Underwood, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez also gave their preference to the Ippolita brand.
