Jeweler-genius Alfred Philippe
Jeweler-genius Alfred Philippe left for Trifari during the Great Depression. Quite a rare case in jewelry, when a recognized craftsman leaves an expensive company and goes to make beauty for the poor …
Alfred the French, who became the best jewelry designer in America by the will of Fate, has embodied women’s dreams in reality for a quarter of a century. He believed that the craftsmanship and quality of the jewelery that are traced by luxury jewelery houses could be applied to the production of bijouterie. To create unique pieces of jewelry he used Austrian crystals, rhinestones, lucite, sterling silver, sometimes with the addition of exquisite gold plating. and due to their craftsmanship, the products were almost indistinguishable from the classic jewelry, which was called costume jewelery.
Philip introduced new technologies to the creation of his products, experimented with materials. For example, he used invisible inserts, which were later often used to attach precious stones. He also used Swarovski crystals in his work, for which the company was nicknamed: “Diamond Kings”. Largely thanks to him, the Trifari brand has become one of the most famous and recognizable in the 20th century. Jewelry created by Alfred Philippe in the 30s and 60s is highly valued. And at present there are only a few of them left.
