Elmar Seidler moved to Munich, where he studied with jeweler Karl Rothmuller, famous for his Art Nouveau work. By 1926, having qualified as a master jeweler, he opened his own shop on Schellingstrasse in Munich.
Elmar Seidler’s jewelry is interesting because it is created outside of time and fashion trends. Seidler’s style was completely uninfluenced by the fashions of the Art Deco style popular at the time. On the contrary, experts are inclined to believe that the master was inspired by the jewelry masterpieces of ancient Rome and ancient Greece. His unique settings of large stones are set with small gemstones: “a jewel in a jewel setting.” And ring frames can be decorated with precious stones on the inside, and not just on the visible surface.
