Liisa Vitalli created her first handmade jewelry design in a small workshop on her family farm in Somero Viluksela, Finland. Her interest in jewelry grew from winning a small school competition (with her first set of a silver necklace and ring and bracelet). This marked the beginning of a successful career as a designer of precious metal jewelry and creating collections of silverware.
Over the next few years, her designs became popular and spread throughout Europe and Asia. They were honored by Britain’s Princess Margaret.
At the height of her popularity, Liisa fell ill while traveling to Singapore for an advertising campaign and died soon after.
Today, the Finnish company Oy Kultakeskus is reviving the traditions of silversmiths of the mid-20th century and reproducing the designs of jewelry from these masters, giving them a second life and worldwide popularity.
