The history of Hermès began in 1837 in Paris, the capital of fashion. Thierry Hermès opened his small workshop, and they did not make earrings and rings at all, but horse harness. The master’s clients were exclusively European nobility, since he used only high-quality materials in his work, followed the production technology and honored traditions.
In 1855, the organizers of the Paris exhibition Expositions Universelles recognized Thierry’s talent: he took one of the prizes in his class. After another 12 years at the same exhibition, he was awarded a medal for first place. The father was succeeded by his two sons: Emil-Maurice and Adolf. They greatly expanded production: in the 20s of the 19th century, the production of accessories began. In 1922, the first collection of bags under the name Hermès was released. From 1929 to 1938, the assortment of goods was replenished with scarves, clothes, bracelets, ties. Later, jewelry was included in the brand’s product line.
Since 1950, the company’s logo has been a horse-drawn carriage.
A new round of popularity of the Hermès brand falls on the beginning of cooperation with the famous designer Pierre Hardy. Since the last century, only the most talented craftsmen have become designers of the brand, for which they even received the King of the French Suites award. However, Hardy breathed life into the products of the brand, surprisingly felt the time and reflected it not only in jewelry, but in all products manufactured under the Hermès brand.
The famous designer set himself the goal of making jewelry accessible to a wide range of consumers. At the same time, their quality, style and beauty should not suffer. The new collection, released with the participation of Pierre, became completely different from the previous ones: the jewelry had clear, simple lines, a minimum of stones. They are suitable for everyday wear, and “on the way out.”
Non-standard materials for jewelry began to be used: genuine leather (especially crocodile), textiles. Hermès leather bracelets, which perfectly match the belts of the same brand, are in demand among young people and adherents of the popular casual style.
Hermès jewelry made of precious metals and stones is timeless. There are no huge discounts on his products – bags, watches, jewelry, clothes. Things and products from last year’s collections do not lose value at all and are not in less demand. Eternal classics – high-quality materials, high-quality workmanship, unique design. Any thing from Hermès is a work of jewelry art.
Jewelry and watches produced by the company’s masters are especially valued all over the world. The collections do not differ radically, but only complement each other. The company’s designers adhere to the established canons of beauty and luxury, the jewelry is minimalistic and conservative. But it is precisely this noble discreet elegance that helps Hermès products to always find their buyer.
Each collection of the fashion house confirms all of the above: a minimum of stones, a maximum of volume, clear lines and simple shapes. These are not costume jewelry, but rather luxury items, like all products of the French jewelry brand. It is these items that are inherited and are not updated every season.
The company is known and loved in Russia. The fashion house introduced men and women who appreciate convenience in everything, simplicity and sophistication, good quality and elegance, with magnificent samples of clothing, perfumes, jewelry, watches, and accessories.
The company was ranked 33rd in Forbes’ 2019 list of the World’s Most Valuable Brands.
