Valeria Prokopets was born in 1986 in Kyiv. now lives in St. Petersburg.
She has been working with polymer clay since 2007.
The creative studio “Grimoire of the Black Hen” (The Black Hen Grimoire) under the direction of Lera Prokopets creates truly magical pendants, brooches and other types of jewelry made of stone and metal.
All works are made in the technique of sculptural miniature and represent stories from the spheres of mythology, folklore and cultural symbols of different eras and peoples.
Valeria’s works reflect the idea of connecting opposites: fabulous animalistic characters and mechanics, the beauty of the human body and hidden pathologies of the soul. Inspired by the works of Zdzisław Beksiński, Dali, Giger, surrealist artists, representatives of fantastic realism, works of Art Nouveau jewelers.
Valeria considers her main goal to be the desire to realize her own graphics or painting in a miniature sculptural form, to prove that plastic is not a boring second-rate material.
In creating jewelry, in addition to polymer clay, she uses metal, wire, glass, semi-precious stones, elements of parts and mechanisms.
