The story of Langani begins in 1952 and continues successfully to this day.
Now we are not at all surprised by the fact that in modern jewelry in one product both precious stones and glass beads and ribbons and everything that you can imagine are used. Many do not know that until the 70s this was impossible to even imagine, since there was a clear division: either jewelry with precious stones and metals, or beads made of glass beads. It was the LANGANI company, specifically the designer and owner of the company Anna Shaadi, who revolutionized the world of jewelry.
The very first langani brooches are quite rare, they were produced individually or in very small batches. Many materials are natural and due to the manual processing of parts, small irregularities are allowed. This characterizes the specificity of jewelry.
Anna Schaadi’s first success came in 1953 at the Frankfurt Crafts Fair. There, Anna presented her “Fleur d’Amour” brooch, a bouquet of beaded flowers and small glass birds. This success inspired Anna to continue her creative work.
In the 1960s, LANGANI made a new breakthrough: it presented its most colorful collection of glass bead necklaces in all sorts of colors and shapes, which was a new take on modern fashion and casual style.
Another LANGANI innovation was the invention of “floating beads”, in which beads strung on nylon threads seem to dance on the skin.
In the 70s, LANGANI products were marked by an incredible wealth of materials: precious stones, lampwork, antique beads, hand-carved bone beads, rock crystal and endless variations of corals, shells and mother-of-pearl combined with exotic fruit pits, delicate feathers, sea urchin spines, ostrich eggshells, horns and genuine alpaca leather, strange forms of rare wood species, as well as precious metals and synthetic materials complement the combination of unusual materials and create a number of unique jewelry.
Since the 70s, the design and manufacture of jewelry collections for fashion shows of the house “Louis Feraud, Paris” begins.
Piercing fashion trends of androgynous female image with bright colors and unnatural sections of forms prevail in the 80s. But the collection also finds a place for folk feminine style.
At this time, Langani continued to make revolutionary products, stepping several steps ahead of everyone else. In LANGANI jewelry, they used elements of colored plexiglass, rubber and rubber hoses – they began to make them thin, turning them into a cord, today we use a rubber cord instead of a gold chain and consider it a sophistication. Annie Schaad began to make amazing chokers, covered them with silk thread and decorated them with rhinestones. She also used seemingly incompatible materials, for example: horns, embroidery, combining different styles and trends.
Annie Schaad’s daughter, Suzanne Kess-Schaad, headed the LANGANI house after the death of the company’s founder in December 1988.
The 90s were held under the motto “Ten-year-olds without any jewelry.” Fashion was pure – stylists and photographers refused all accessories. But LANGANI continued to inspire ladies. Painted glass, filigree-cut brooches appeared as small masterpieces. Magical miniature worlds emerged – wire beads, “beads hanging in the air” opened up wide possibilities for creativity.
The first decade of the new millennium brought us back to the trends of the last decades. Women were no longer dictated to any style, at this time there were trends towards “individuality”. And the LANGANI house, keeping up with the times, emphasizes the individuality of women.
The new LANGANI collections emphasize different styles. Large expressive round chains, simple, classic and elegant necklaces, long chains and multi-row threads with precious stones in a set with bracelets and earrings create a harmonious whole.
LANGANI jewelry has a unique charm today, as before. LANGANI masterpieces are designed with great attention to detail, sensitivity to the choice of colour and material, as well as technical perfection, and are still hand-assembled today in the studio workshop in Stuttgart, Germany.
