Feng J is the first jeweler from China to achieve international recognition in the field of high jewelery.
Feng Jay grew up passionate about art since childhood, her outstanding artistic talent and desire to create were in her blood. The designer says that her great-great-grandfather was a famous court painter. The story of the famous ancestor and the parents who actively contributed to the artistic development, all this influenced the fate of the girl.
Feng began her career by studying design at the Chinese Academy of Arts.
While still studying in China, she was fascinated by the world of jewelry, and after graduating from the academy, Feng continued her studies first at the London University of the Arts, and then at the Paris High School of Jewelry.
Her love of beauty, the mesmerizing brilliance of precious stones and the desire to develop a niche of high jewelry art in her native China, gradually led her to create her own brand Feng J.
In high jewelery, the design of the jewelery is highlighted by the large number of precious stones, which leads to the weight of the jewelery. Many jewelers are not afraid to experiment with lighter metals; you will not surprise anyone with such a combination as diamond and titanium.
It wasn’t enough for Feng to use lightweight metals.
Gradually honing her skills, in search of new designs to create unique jewelry, Feng found her own special signature style – she reduced the amount of metal around the mount. Jewelry made with this method of fastening became not only lighter, the reflection of light in the stones changed, they became more radiant.
To use the technique of “floating setting” only stones with a “rose” cut are suitable, stones are cut based on their natural shape, the process of cutting and selecting precious stones for jewelry can take several months. For his jewelry, Feng uses spinels, rubies, diamonds, sapphires, tanzanites and tsavorites with a thickness of 1-1.2 mm – this is a condition for better light reflection.
Feng enjoys painting and collects contemporary art.
The paintings known from childhood and the world around her serve as a source of inspiration for her in creating jewelry.
In Feng Jay jewelry, we see the motives of nature in the interpretation peculiar to oriental philosophy. The images of plants and animals convey their fragility and sophistication. Flowers in jewelry created by Feng seem to be alive, you involuntarily want to touch them, precious stones glow like dew under the sun’s rays. Jewelry, despite the abundance of stones, is full of light and lightness.
