In 1976, newlyweds Wolfgang and Margaret Ley founded their own tailoring company in Munich. Escada is named after the horse. Traveling around Ireland, a young married couple made a bet and bet on the thoroughbred horse Escada. The horse brought them victory and a name for a successful clothing brand.
In 1978, the first collection of the Escada brand was released. The clothes were made of jersey in a sports direction, but were intended for social life. This required the expansion of the staff and the range of products offered. The management of the company decided to create an additional brand Laurel, where clothes were produced at more affordable prices. Whereas the Escada line would be engaged in the creation of expensive luxury clothing.
In the early 90s, a beauty line was launched and the first Escada fragrance was released in honor of Margaret Lay. Feminine and sensual perfume has become a great addition to the overall image. The growing demand for Escada brand perfumes has contributed to the release of a whole perfume line that would be suitable for all occasions. Until 2008, Escada was doing well. Since 2017, Niall Sloan has been the creative director of the Escada fashion house. Prior to that, he worked for the British fashion brand Burberry.
