Claude Arthus Bertrand designs and manufactures civil and military medals and decorations for France, as well as foreign insignia, orders and merit for other countries, the Legion of Honor medal and the large Legion of Honor necklace worn by the presidents of the French Republic. Arthus Bertrand also produced academic swords, trophies, watches, jewelry and silverware and used historic manufacturing processes.
In 2016, 243 artisans worked in the production workshops of Arthus Bertrand in Anjou and Palaiseau. The company produces bracelets, cuffs, necklaces, watches.
Marking Arthus Bertrand -“AB Edit. Paris”, the “AB” monogram and Cie with the wheel underneath, as well as the head of an eagle, which is the French mark for 18 carat gold. The markings could also include the address of a jewelry store, such as 46. rue Rennes”, or the name of the designer of the brooch, such as “Du Sic” followed by “Paris”. Considered the finest jewelry, the Arthus Bertrand signs of the zodiac, many jewelers have tried to copy these designs, but without much luck, because these beauties are unsurpassed.
The company is still active and its antique and vintage pieces are rare and collectible.
