Christian Dior – The famous couturier who glorified femininity and returned the captivating beauty of the image of a woman to fashion.
Who made Dior jewelry?
Louis Kramer founded the company in 1943. All production was in New York, so the jewelry was marked “Kramer,” “Kramer N.Y.,” or “Kramer of New York.”
With the help of his siblings, Louis Kramer directed the production of his line of jewelry. Kramer admires flowers, creates jewelry with an organic design, uses enamel. A series with bright rhinestone inserts is also known: blue, red, as well as geometric patterns and animal figures.
When Christian Dior presented his “New Look” collection in 1947, he used romantic images, spectacular costumes were embellished with imitation jewelry, which he produced for Dior…Kramer!
These jewels are the most valuable these days and are labeled “Christian Dior by Kramer,” “Dior by Kramer,” “Kramer for Dior.”
The cooperation between the companies was fruitful and continued until the closure of Kramer in the 1970s.
The second company that influenced the course of the history of Henkel & Grosse jewelry.
In 1907, two half-brothers Heinrich Henkel and Florentin Grosse in the German capital of jewelers – the city of Pforzheim (Pforzheim), founded the Henkel & Grosse jewelry company for the production of hair jewelry (at the beginning of the last century, such jewelry was very popular), as well as watches and chains.
By the early 1930s, the company had a reputation as one of the world’s most respected jewelry manufacturers, also producing costume jewelry for Lanvin and Schiaparelli.

In the post-war years, the company established good ties with American dealers, she managed to conclude a contract in 1955 (for signing it, she had to enlist the direct support of Minister Valerie Giscard d’Estaing, the future President of France in 1974 – 1981, with the main French exporter of that time – Fashionable home of Christian Dior.

From that moment on, the production of jewelry was divided into two companies – Christian Dior Bijoux (responsible for Dior jewelry) and Henkel & Grosse (responsible for the production of their own precious metal jewelry of complex design). Both companies prospered.
Among the regular customers who wore masterpieces of jewelry fashion from Christian Dior were: Princess Margaret, Duchess of Windsor, Princess Charlene de Monaco, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Perron, Gloria Guinness Lady Dee and many other famous personalities.
When Dior was in America for the Oscars in design, he claimed free copying of masterpieces, that is, Christian Dior invented royalty. And since 1949, the circulation of each of his ideas gave interest. And since then, he began to sell the right to put his brand name.
The House of Dior is the home of outstanding designers of the 20th century.
In 1953, Yves Saint Laurent came to the firm and after the death of Dior became the leading fashion designer of the Dior house. In 1960 this place passes to Marc Boan, then in 1989 he was replaced by Gianfranco Ferre. Since 1996, John Galliano has been the head fashion designer of the house. The name Dior is synonymous with Parisian fashion.
In 1983, Henkel & Grosse expands its product range with leather goods, scarves, ties and other haberdashery items.
In 2005, the fashion house Dior decided to sell the Christian Dior Bijoux line exclusively in its own stores, and therefore this “trick” made the Grosse family face the need to acquire a new business partner for doing business.
And such a partner was found – the Fattedad family, which for a long time carried out orders for Henkel & Grosse. Grosse Hong Kong Limited was established to target jewelry consumers from Japan, China and South Korea.
All the jewelry collections created by Christian Dior are an integral part of world fashion and amaze with their unusualness, elegance and luxury.
