Cadoro Inc. NY was founded by actor Steven Brody and his friend Daniel Stoenescu in New York.
High quality handwork, use of the best materials: crystals, pearls, mother-of-pearl, porcelain, Venetian, Murano glass, lucite, expensive woods, allowed Cadoro jewelry to get the status of high-level jewelry.
In the 70s, Cadoro’s jewelry designs were made with Indian themes, as a continuation of the collection inspired by African and pre-Columbian art, using polished wood, carved gold and silver.
Cadoro jewelry was sold in America’s finest department stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. A distinctive feature of jewelry from Cadoro is a recognizable ethnic style, layering, the use of beads and gilding. Jewelry was produced in a small edition.
Samples of Cadoro jewelry are kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
The jewelry was marked Cadoro, as well as with the copyright ©Cadoro.
The company folded after Brody stepped down as president.
