The history of the creation of the American jewelry brand Van Dell
The company was founded in 1939 in Salem by John Van Dell. Since its inception, the company has specialized in the production of sterling silver, gold-plated jewelry and luxury fashion jewelry. Often when creating their jewelry Van Dell used semi-precious natural stones. And also, unique carved cameos created by skilled jewelers. The cost of jewelry could reach up to 65 dollars. And this is quite a considerable amount of money in those days.
The Van Dell name is not widely known. But among collectors of antique and vintage jewelry, it is in demand, as the jewelry of this brand is distinguished by impeccable classic design and high quality workmanship.
Company closure
The company ceased to exist in its original form after the death of the founder in 1970. In 1998, the London company Colibri, which at that time already owned the KREMENTZ brand, acquired Van Dell and continued to manufacture jewelry. Now Van Dell still exists and is engaged in the production and sale of jewelry. But her products no longer have the individuality and charisma that were characteristic of the jewelry of this brand in the first decades of the brand’s existence. Vintage Van Dell jewelry is quite rare, as it has been in steady demand among vintage collectors for a long time.
