Lacloche Freres. The ringing name (la cloche – “bell”) was world famous in its time, but in ours it has been consigned to deaf oblivion. There is very little information on this brand, but from time to time their jewelry appears at auctions or at exhibitions. The brothers Lacloche-Fernand, Jules, Leopold and Jacques founded the firm “Lacloche Frères” in 1875 in Madrid.
The brothers gained great fame in 1920 when designers began to create pieces decorated with multi-colored enamels and precious stones, inspired by oriental culture. The Lacloche Frères jewelry house has become synonymous with Art Deco style.
In 1925, the company won the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition of Modern Industrial Art. The firm created jewelry for Edward VII, Grace Kelly and Queen Victoria. In 1929, Lacloche Frères went bankrupt after the stock market crashed. However, in 1936 the company returned to the jewelry market again and existed until the middle of the 20th century.
